ViCE: Planning an Alpha Player Release

While I'm currently working on the designer release, it occured to me that I have no idea what the first player release should look like. That is, I have a grand vision in my head of how everything should work, but haven't been able to spec minimal features. As such, I thought I'd get player input. Keep in mind, this isn't a "list every killer feature you wish to have" thread (for those kinds of things, report an issue, but a "list the absolute minimum set of features you can tolerate from an alpha release". The shorter the list, the likelier it will be that I will be able to finish it before August.

Here's my list:
  • ability to group cards in a 4 major locations: deck, hand, discard-pile, rest-of-table
  • minimal card interaction (drag and drop, flip, rotate)
  • minimal chat functionality (no highlighting; username, timestamp, message)
I'm sure I'm missing something, so now it's your turn...

I'd say that a bare minimum for something alpha is:
  • Some way to load a custom made deck that has been built earlier. I.e. a textfile or whatever in simplest form "4 x Darth Vader"
  • Chat or whatever text window must visibly display all that happens, always, unless shut of by players
  • Deck interaction such as: Ability to shuffle it
  • Hand interaction, with opponents
  • Highlite cards somehow, both own and/or opponents, for whatever reason, and also have at least 3-4 colours for highliting. Green, red and orange would be given ones...maybe also blue or white.

Then:
  • Chat or whatever text window must visibly display all that happens, always, unless shut of by players. For example "You moved "Darth Vader" from hand face down to the table." while opponent sees "NAME moved a card from hand to the table", with timestamp.
  • Deck interaction such as: Ability to shuffle it, look at all cards in it and pick out x cards to hand, put back cards in it etc
  • Hand interaction, with opponents if he first allows it.
  • Highlite cards somehow, both own and/or opponents, for whatever reason, and also have at least 3-4 colours for highliting. Green, red and orange would be given ones...maybe also blue or white.
  • I'm not at all convinced this is really a bare minimum, but here it goes: Draw lines or arrows between cards.
