Site problems

Problem
Something on server, supposedly on my account, eats 512 MB RAM. That is our cap, and, every time that happens ANY page on the site will be unavailable for about 1 min. This seemed to happen everywhere on the site no matter what was being done.

Debug
I've worked around the clock for two days now on trying to figure out what is eating up all the memory, as the hosts refuse to help me and explicitly told me they can't do anything about it. In a way that's good, since I were already at my 30:th email or so to them.

The story is this: I tell them something is wrong with their setup and that a newly installed (using their software) copy of WordPress using no plugins no posts no nothing can still cause the error. They mail me back and tell me to "optimize" Wordpress, shut of plugins and hope for the best. They even suggested that Wordpress is resource heavy and hat it can eat 512 MB of ram - even with no plugins and freshly installed. (Yah, for real.) I mail them again, saying same thing with more proof, more logs. They tell me the same thing. Repeat this 30 times and call it "support". I think their strategy is to make you jump from the roof.

Best of all is they even offered to "upgrade" my account to a deluxe one for more money, giving me 1 GB ram and more CPU. lol. The guts of these guys...

What I am doing right now is running a lot of clicking tests on site and adding/removing directories in an effort to discover if it is WP, a specific install of WP, or if it's forum or wiki. I have ruled out wiki as the cause, and also ruled out the WTactics blog and Sandscape as the cause. They aren't even in /public_html anymore. (problem is if there are many causes to this, like many small factors adding up together from different scripts... if so I'd be lost.)

It is very time consuming even when scripted server loads are running and I have no estimate about completion. I'm really tempted to just move to another host but rather solve it as that would be plenty of money lost on these guys.

I'll keep you posted in here, once a day.
