Playtesting tool

Post by xarn » Sat Jan 16, 2016 09:12

Hi,

if some people are interested in playtesting the current rules/cards, I think the following tool might be handy:

http://www.untap.in/

You can make deck with custom cards and play without rules. I tested it once long ago and found it ...not bad.

I just created a dummy account:
username = password = cardtester

I need to look into this tool more closely.

For those who didn't yet look at it:

Sorry for asking stupid questions.

1.) a) Why are there WT cards? Has someone added them to Untap.in?
b) Are they only available through the "cardtester" account?

2.) And which Untap.in channel do I use to play WT?

3.) And I'm still overwhelmed by the sheer amount of documentation in the wiki. Is there a list of all already existing WT cards?

4.) Are there other cards than Gaia available? Maybe Empire?

5.) Who is responsible for the Wiki?
Kind regards and happy coding :)

1.a) yeah, apparently someone added them ...perhaps even the author of the tool when he built it.
Not all the cards are there, but it's very easy to add new ones. When creating a new deck, just choose the "WTAC" type.

1.b) no idea what a card tester account is. I just registered normally, but it's quite a while ago.

2) wtactics doesn't have a userbase yet, you'll have to schedule it with someone here

3) I guess nico's new tool will be just that! http://wtactics.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=414
4) idem

5) ask snowdrop

Hi,

As per Nico's suggestion (more like he strong harmed me into it :D ), I've contacted the UnTap.in admin/creator, Patrik Hartwig, about using the platform as a playtesting tool for WTactics, though they are not open source (not anymore, seems it didn't work well for them), he is willing to help and had already added support for WTactics in the database. As you've mentioned, that's what the "WTAC" deck type is for, we can add any new cards when creating the deck and those will be available for everyone to use.

I'll try to create my own deck with the current cards and see how it works, but so far it does look like a nice tool for WTactics and our playtesting needs.

Seems Patrik knew about WTactics for some time and was interested in it, and that's why some cards are already there, we can probably improve them as they should have come from the previous PNG files.
Rejoice! For very bad things are about to happen.

Hi all,

The card db now also generates an untap.in compatible jpeg.
Steps to add a card in untap in.

Our side
- edit your card in our card db (e.g. change loyalty back and forth)
- hit save - a background job kicks in and creates the full svg, png, jpeg and tif (cmyk print)
- after a minute or so, the download links for all the card's resources should show up.

Untap in
- register, login
- create a new deck of WTAC type and give it a name
- Search for a card e.g. 'Misled Goblin' (should be there, I've added it)
- When the search doesn't show, click Add Missing card.
- Fill in the
Name on Card
The set code = RBRT (Rebirth)
URL to Card = the jpeg link of our card db

All done! Now you can add your card to the main deck, or to the secondary (cities) deck

Decks:
- When you create a deck on our side you can "Generate Deck",
it creates both a print ready CMYK Pdf and a deck.txt file, however it's not yet importable in untap in. Don't exactly know why, maybe they only allow you to fetch decks from certain servers (like tapped out)

Kind regards,
Nico

It is indeed the best one I've seen that's free and in browser.

If i create a card for WTAC, will then any other player that is building a deck be able to find it? Seems so.

How do we update the cards once we revise them? (Cheap solution is to have "v1.x" appended to name)

This is so, when you create a deck of the WTAC type, and add a missing card there,
others creating decks of the WTACT type will find the card you've added.

Try for "Misled Goblin", that's one I've added.

When adding a card, you can set the series as well, for "Rebirth" I used RBRT,
Card versions would be nice there, but you can actually add the same card multiple times

Kind regards
