Template footer & some more...

Post by snowdrop » Thu Jun 02, 2011 00:45

I think I'm done with the suggestions for how the template footer could look like:

My personal fav is a combo between 3 & 2.... I think. I would like to see the bottom "grapical" footer in #2 have some organic flowery ornament like on the sides of old mirrors, and let it be an integrated part of the framework, in contrast as it is now - a patch thats overlapping it.

(Mirror examples http://www.aboxofstupid.com/Products/Mirrors/34170.jpg / http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbvi ... mirror.jpg )

I've also uploaded the file I used - a sef-contained (I hope) inkscape file, that should make it easy for you to play around with the stuff above:

I think previous version (that is the thing we have accepted during meeting, http://chaosrealm.net/wtactics/files/pics/mockupz.png and http://chaosrealm.net/wtactics/files/pi ... reshqx.png ) is still the best. However, I will be still defending threshold marks in form of visible jewelry, that is from 4th of todays mockups. I think they are way more straightforward and well-readable than any of "gentle frames" solutions.

Situation on the game front looks a bit intense for me. But let me repeat what I've said few good times already. You need to keep in mind some extra information when composing stuff:
You need to keep bleed, that is 2mm space that will be holding and continuing all the elements that reach the card border.
You need to keep trim margin, that is avoiding placing any small important stuff within 1-2 mm from all the edges at all - that means a guy with die-cut can cut badly by as much as 1 mm (not due to his fault, but due to big sheets of paper that change size due to moisture and pressure). And all cards trimmed badly will have to be at least well- readable, best if still good-looking.
I'm the filthy bastard you wish you never met.
