Unexpected ARC Playtest Round 5 : a summary

Hi folks,

As a matter of chance, Koen and I had another playtest round: Uneasy vs Uneasy.

The tempo was higher then before, about 10 to 15 mins for a match (we did two).
What we're experiencing more and more is the "depth" of a single deck; allowing for different playing styles and different tactics. First round Koen played a releax style, second round an agressive style.
The way you're play style is dictates what city you us and how you use it. We had both the feeling/idea that the ways to achieve something is quite high.

In the end, I lost both matches, ..., yep I haven't won a single game yet. :-)
Although they were very close.

One thing that also became clear is that the Cutpurse Imp is a bit overpowered, and the balance of the game shifted a bit to quickly due to that.

It reduces the opponents resource -1, gives you +1 resource and it forces your opponent to replace his resources (and thus a missed draw). It is to harsh, so we might consider some alternatives.

e.g. destroy resource instead of steal, or give it back when the cutpurse imp dies and making it a 1/1 instead of 1/2. Any suggestions?

Kind regards,
Nico

I am partial to the Cutpurse Imp stealing the resource for only as long as it is in play, because It gives the opponent incentives to have some sort of creature removal card in their deck. Also, it makes the Imp's owner less likely to attack or defend with the Cutpurse Imp if they believe it could die. With the Cutpurse Imp being more valuable for the resource it provides than the weak punches it could throw, it almost becomes an enchantment, except for the fact that it is more susceptible to destruction.

I'm not sure about 1/1 vs 1/2.

Keep in mind this is all off the top of my head, and not backed by play testing.
