French translation

Hi guys,

Here is a french translation of the ARC.

French ARC

This would need to be reviewed, since there are a few things where "art" comes in play, for instance, I had to choose names for Pre-built Decks. I tried to stick close to the original, but there are inevitably nuances, which can (should) be debated.

I'm here!

I translated the card "Abduction" as "Enlèvement". I have 2 questions.

The bottom message "arcmage.org - join-us" has been translated in french as "arcmage.org - rejoignez-nous". I really think it should be translated, but if you want me to keep it english, I will.

The "Abduction" card says "Mark target creature. Move the marked card to...". Why 2 steps? Why not directly "move the target creature to..." ?

I agree that it can be translated, just wanted to point out that it should be that exact line (the website and the join us) on each card.

We'd like to make things as clear as possible. A card can be in the 'unmarked' (portrait) and 'marked' (landscape) state. That transition should be clear. 'Moving' is a game concept, but that might not be clear to a casual player. He/she might just assume to place the card elsewhere.

That's it,
Kind regards,
Nico

Hey Zero,

I just pre-generated all rebirth set cards.

You can search for them using "french" in the search box (after you are logged in, or if you remove the status filter in the advanced search)

That should save you some time, so you can focus on the actual translation.

Kind regards,
Nico

Thanks a lot, it should be easier indeed.

So, marking and moving the card should happen at the same time?

For the Abduction card, yes. The intent is that the card ends up at the desired location in landscape mode (marked).
In general, all actions on a single event/magic card are atomic. Either all actions on the card go trough or none (e.g. when the card is countered).

Kind regards.
Nico

Hi,

2 new cards this week: "Besieged City" and "Cutpurse Imp". I'm starting with Uneasy Alliance, then I'll go on with Gaian Love for life when I'm done.

Thanks! We now have 4 more cards: Dark Portal (Porte Noire), Deadly Shock (Choc Fatal), Forgiving Vampire (Vampire Indulgent), and my favorite, Foul Imps (Sales Petits Démons).

Looking good :-)

95 cards in the set, 7 translated => 88 cards => 4 per week => 22 weeks, 5 weeks per month => 4 - 5 months,
that's pretty fast.

As I said, if you do the abilities first, I could help out a bit by applying those already.

That would leave you only with the specific card texts and not the abilities on top.
This is really exciting!

Kind regards,
Nico
