Fair Play Policy

Last Updated: March 14, 2021

INTRODUCTION

Using unfair advantages against someone who thinks you are playing fairly is a terrible act.

When engaging in any game developed by Arcmage, we encourage players to be kind, respectful and show good sportsmanship. However, our policy is clear & strict and is also faithfully enforced.

We feel we are extremely effective in identifying and dealing with all Fair Play abusers.

FAIR PLAY RULES

Arcmage expects players to …

  1. respect opponents, team members, arbiters, officials and supporters
  2. play by the rules (of the game) and do not cheat in any way
  3. play fair and to win, but be dignified upon loss
  4. have taken notice of, and abide by our terms of service and our non-discrimination policy

Arcmage expect that players will not

  1. use any (software) tools to aid you during the game (do not use an engine, artificial intelligence or any other form of external help)
  2. fix game results by arranging games, playing with multiple accounts or losing intentionally
  3. stall to make opponents wait unnecessarily (abuse occurs when players do not take play actions during their turn simply to prolong games that are completely and hopelessly lost)
  4. make false Fair Play accusations
  5. play for money or other prices, unless it is during an official tournament with a single, modest and fixed entrance fee and that is authorized by Arcmage (max the price of a coffee)

Arcmage expect that online players will not

  1. let anyone else play on their account
  2. intentionally disconnect during the game (nicely resign instead)
  3. frivolously abort games because they don’t want to play with the initial game setup
  4. exploit any errors or bugs in the online software to cheat

HOW DO I REPORT SOMEONE FOR BREAKING THE FAIR PLAY RULES?

If you have reason to believe someone infringes this Fair Play policy, please report it at admin@arcmage.org. Our Foul Play Detection Staff will conduct a thorough investigation, gathering statistics and reports on said user, keeping all findings confidential, taking appropriate action against the reported user if/when a concrete assessment has been made.

Please do not discuss your suspicions in the forums or communication channels or make any public accusations.

Any of the above described public accusations / actions against a member may lead to your own account being restricted, regardless of what is found against the accused.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY OPPONENT ACCUSES ME OF FAIR PLAY VIOLATIONS?

Assuming that you are NOT actually breaking the rules, our advice is to simply discontinue your game on the basis of a disrespectful action of your opponent.

Your opponent may be frustrated, bewildered by your superior skills, or just trying to rattle you. If persistent false accusations occur, please report the member for abuse at admin@arcmage.org.
